Hello! I’m SacChi, a blogger who loves exploring great food and drinks in Kochi Prefecture, Shikoku.
I share insights from daily life and travel.
Today I’m introducing Spice Curry Cardamon—a great find I discovered on Google Maps.

What Makes Cardamon Special
Cardamon is a spice curry specialty shop in Kitahonmachi, just a short walk from Kochi Station.
Opened in 2023, relocated to Kitahonmachi in June 2024.
Core concept: “Japanese dashi culture × Spice power” fusion.
Unique curries based on bonito dashi (鰹だし).
Even at lunchtime, international customers line up—testament to its rising popularity.
Menu (Weekly Rotation)

A simple menu that makes ordering easy:
Main curry: ¥900
A or B two-curry plate: +¥200
Main + A + B three-curry plate: +¥300
That Day’s Lineup:
Main: Pork belly bonito dashi curry (本枯節 / hon-karebushi)
A: Pork & chickpea chicken stock keema
B: Chicken & dried shrimp green curry
I ordered Main + A combo with egg topping.

Visual: Rice centered on one plate, curries arranged around it, vibrant side dishes completing the composition—visually appealing from the moment it arrives.
Curry Characteristics (Tasting Report)
Main: Pork Belly Bonito Dashi Curry
Initially surprised by the combination of Japanese bonito dashi and curry, but surprisingly well balanced. Beautifully harmonized!
Spice depth reveals bonito dashi umami beneath, pairing beautifully with the pork belly.
Truly a new marriage of “Japanese × Spice”.
A: Pork & Chickpea Chicken Stock Keema
Enjoyable bean texture, the robust flavor it pairs perfectly with rice. Flavor contrast with Main heightens the pleasure of combo plates.
5 Side Dishes That Stand Out
According to the master, that day’s sides:
- Chicken chashu
- Purple onion salad
- Carrot rapé
- Kabocha soy milk puree
- Tomato yogurt raita
Delicious solo or mixed into curry—offering a satisfying variety of flavors in small portions.
Overall curry finish is mild and well-balanced. For heat seekers, table chili powder adjusts spice level.
Interior Atmosphere

- Wood-toned cafe-style interior
- 2 counter seats, one 4-seat table, two 2-seat tables
- Comfortable for solo diners and small groups
- Many female customers; lunchtime often full
Bonus: A Note from the Owner
Despite calling it “weekly rotation,” the main curry hasn’t changed in 2 years.
For customers who can’t eat pork for religious reasons, he flexibly provides pork-free curry options when possible.
Post-meal hot chocolate had gentle, comforting flavor.
